The New York University men's tennis team was defeated by Swarthmore College 8-1 on Saturday, February 24, in Swarthmore, PA
The match was tight at the outset, with the Violets taking one of the three doubles matches and dropping the other two by identical 8-4 scores. The victory was recorded by the tandem of
Jingyuan Chen and
Louis Frowein, who out-lasted Andres Fente and Winston Zheng 8-7 (3) at #2.
That was NYU's lone victory, however, as the visitors dropped all six singles contest. The closest match involved the Violets' captain
Rumaish Khastgir, who dropped a 7-6 (5), 6-3 decision to Rushil Patel at #3 singles.
The Violets will return to action next Saturday, March 2, when they will host RIT at 1pm and Fordham University at 5:00pm at the Stadium Tennis Club in the Bronx, NY.
