The New York University's women's basketball team extended its nation-long winning streak to 38 games with a 97-50 triumph over Tufts University on Sunday, December 8, in Medford, MA.
This marks the fifth consecutive game where the Violets (7-0) have scored at least 90 points, while each of their victories this season have been by at least 29 points.
The Violets took control in the first quarter, using an early 12-0 run to establish a double-digit lead they never relinquished.
NYU went on to lead 31-13 after the first quarter and 51-28 at halftime.
The Violets' defense continued to stifle in the third quarter, holding the Jumbos (6-3) to just five points.
NYU went on to lead by as many as 49 points in the final quarter.
"This was a tremendous road win for us against a quality NESCAC opponent," said Head Coach Meg Barber. "Our leadership and discipline to prepare for this road game was really showcased in the outcome. I'm really proud of our entire team effort and preparation."
Natalie Bruns led NYU with 23 points, adding six rebounds and three assists. Belle Pellechia added 21 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Brooke Batchelor was a rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Mary Kate Fahey contributed 12 points, while Jamie Behar added 10.
The Violets return to action across the historic Brooklyn Bridge where they visit Brooklyn College on Wednesday, December 11. Tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.
