The New York University men's basketball team continued its undefeated season with an 88-46 win over visiting Connecticut College on Saturday, December 7, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
The
#10-ranked Violets trailed 3-2 before going on a 26-6 run to take a lead they would never relinquish.
NYU (6-0) went ahead by as many as 27 points before establishing a 40-15 lead at halftime.
The Violets' defense was stifling over the first 20 minutes, holding the Camels (4-4) to 16.1 percent shooting (5-of-31) from the field and 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from three-point range.
Three Violets reached double-figure scoring by the break, with
Tristan How,
Emmanuel Onuama and
Brock Susko each netting 10 points as NYU connected on 58.3 percent (14-of-24) of its field goal attempts.
NYU's lead grew to a game-high 47 points, 88-41, on
Matt Volkening's free throws with 2:14 remaining.
"I thought our performance was pretty incredible today," said Head Coach
Dave Klatsky. "Our guys were locked in and followed the game plan. We got some really, really good looks which we turned into points."
Susko finished with a game-high 16 points. Onuama scored 14, How had 12 and
Jack Stone added 10
Jonathan Sigurdsson contributed a career-high eight points, and How led the team with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Overall, 16 Violets saw action and 13 scored.
"Something we talk about often is that we don't really know what the game is going to present," Klatsky added. "We have a lot of talented guys and everyone needs to be ready to step up. It's something we stress and everyone was ready to go today."
NYU shot 59.6 percent (31-of-52) from the field and 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from beyond the arc.
The Violets are back in action this Thursday, December 12, when they host Yeshiva University at the Paulson Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00pm.
