The New York University women's fencing team wrapped up its competition at the Philadelphia Invitational on Sunday, January 21, in Philadelphia, PA.
Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, the invitational featured many of the top teams in the nation throughout all NCAA divisions.
The Violets,
currently ranked #24 in the nation, faced four opponents on Sunday.
The Violets defeated #30 Drew University (16-11), but suffered loses to #1 Columbia University (22-5), #8 Ohio State University (15-12) and #15 St. John's University (21-6).
The Violets now sport a 5-9 dual meet record this season.
"Our team is still progressing in the right direction despite struggling a bit over the weekend," said Head Coach
Ben Bratton. "Our foil and epee teams were able to secure some great individual victories to use as building blocks moving toward future success."
The Violets return to the strip when they compete at the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, on Saturday, January 27.
