New York University's cross country/track and field head coach Tyler Deck Shipley has announced 15 incoming first-year and transfer student-athletes who will join the cross country team and track & field's distance/middle distance squad for the 2023-24 season.

Nine women and six men are set to become Violets this fall, entering a program which had one of its most successful campaigns in recent memory this past year.

"Last year's recruiting class led to an unprecedented season of growth and this year's group will continue to build on that," Deck Shipley said. "They come in with impressive credentials and share a huge excitement to impact the program." 

In 2022, women's cross country qualified for nationals as a team for the first time since 2013, with Grace Richardson earning All-America status, while Ryan Tobin represented the men.

On the track, Richardson also qualified for indoor nationals in the 5k while distance teammate Viv Kane earned a bid to outdoor nationals in the 1500.

This year's incoming recruiting class is made up of 11 first-year runners and four transfer students: two from SUNY New Paltz, one from Williams College and one from Hamilton College.
