New York University's men's tennis team fell 6-3 to University Athletic Association (UAA) foe and
31st-ranked Brandeis University on Sunday afternoon at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
The loss came after the Violets defeated fellow UAA rival University of Rochester, 7-2, yesterday on Senior Day.
Against the Judges, doubles proved to be the difference as NYU dropped all three flights.
But, the two teams split the six singles tilts with
Boren Zheng winning at the third flight after grinding out a 7-6(4) tiebreaker victory in the first set before putting it away with a 6-1 triumph in the second.
Joseph He made quick work of his opponent at fourth singles, claiming a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Andy Watterson came through with a marathon victory at sixth singles as he grabbed a 6-2 win in the opening set, dropped the second 3-6, and rallied to take the third 10-7.
The defeat brings the Violets' record to 6-4 in dual matches this spring with two more remaining before the UAA Championship.
The first of NYU's final two duals takes place on Friday, April 14, at 39th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.
