NYU scored its only run in the top of the seventh on
Sophia Leon's bunt single.
Margaux Lesser also had a hit and a walk in the contest.
In the second game, the Violets took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third. With one out, Leon singled and stole second. Lesser walked and
Madi Hand's grounder was mishandled by Tartans' second baseman Kira Monji and Leon scored. Hand stole second and
Samantha Burggraf walked to load the bases.
However,
Emma Aridi lined into a double play and the Violets were denied any more runs.
Starter
Emily Stone held Carnegie scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the Tartans erupted for all three of their runs, the big hit beng an inside-the-park two run home run from Monji.
Carnegie tacked on an unearned run later in the inning to end the scoring.
Stone went the distance for NYU, allowing only those two earned runs and six hits.
The Violets were held to only three hits in game.
The two teams will play another doubleheader on Sunday afternoon beginning at 12:00pm.
