The New York University softball team split its two games against Carnegie Mellon University in a University Athletic Association (UAA) doubleheader on Sunday, April 2, in Pittsburgh PA.
After being shutout 7-0 in the opener, the Violets rebounded for a 6-4 win in the nitecap.
The Violets only managed three hits in the opener.
Emma Aridi accounted for two of them, including a triple.
Chloe Blanc registered the other hit for NYU.
Emily Stone started and and
Angelina Biele relieved as each pitched three innings for NYU.
The second game was a different story as the Violets doubled their hit output and came away with the victory.
A five-run third inning proved to be the difference in the contest. Aridi had a big two-run double in the decisive frame, which followed
Hannah Becker's RBI single.
Margaux Lesser contributed two hits and a stolen base in the victory.
Marina Egbert went the distance to record her team-leading sixth victory of the season. She allowed three earned runs and six hits, while only issuing one walk and striking out three.
The Violets will host Manhattanville College at the College of Staten Island on Wednesday, April 5, for a twinbill beginning at 4pm.
