New York University's
25th-ranked women's tennis team emerged victorious over The College of New Jersey on Saturday, March 25, in Ewing, NJ. The 8-1 win brings the Violets' record to a perfect 6-0 this spring.
The morning started off with three doubles matches. At #1 doubles TCNJ's Charlotte Roarty and Jenny Landells faced off against NYU's
Ida Krause and
Dakota Fordham. In a decisive victory, Krause and Fordham won the match 8-2.
Following at second and third doubles, the teams of
Molly Heber/
Aditi Narayan and
Jimena Menendez/
Karina Jensrud took down their opponents 8-7 (6) and 8-5, respectively.
Heading into the singles play, NYU's women continued to excel. They saw several decisive wins in addition to a hotly contested #1 singles match between Krause and Roarty. Krause took the first set in a nail-biter tiebreaker 7-6 (5) and hit the ground running in the second set, eventually winning it 6-3.
Fordham won at #2 singles, Jensrud picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #3 singles, Narayan (6-4, 6-1) won at #4 singles and Menendez claimed a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at the fifth flight.
The Violets will be back on the court next weekend to host the University of Rochester on Saturday, April 1, and Brandeis University on Sunday, April 2, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
