New York University wrestler Jason Geyer was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week on Monday, February 4.

Geyer won both of his 174-pound matches as #23-ranked NYU competed at a tri-meet hosted by Bridgewater State University on Saturday.

Against #16 United States Coast Guard Academy, Geyer registered a major decision shutout (11-0) over his opponent Danny Gibson. Geyer, who is ranked #7 in the country at 174, then recorded a fall in just over two minutes (2:10) against his Bridgewater State opponent, Amauris Gomez.

NYU lost to Coast Guard 20-13 and beat Bridgewater 50-3.

Geyer is now 24-1 this season with a team-leading 12 falls.

Next up for Geyer and the Violets is the UAA Championship this Saturday, February 11, at the University of Chicago.
