#10 Women's Volleyball Sweeps Stockton

Violets Improve to 21-4

The New York University women's volleyball team, ranked #10 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), traveled to Galloway, NJ, on Friday, October 27, and swept host Stockton University.

The Violets, now 21-4 on the season and winners of five straight matches, were dominant throughout in posting the straight-set victory (25-17, 25-15, 25-14 ).

NYU did fall behind by three points early in the first set, but a 7-2 run turned a 5-2 deficit into a 9-7 lead that the Violets never relinquished. Camille Nazor's kill ended the opener.

The Violets scored the first four points of the second set and never trailed. Stockton was within three points, 14-11, but NYU ended the set on an 11-4 run to go up 2-0 in the match.

NYU never trailed in the final set, as well, leading by as many as 12 points before Ava Launsbach's service ace ended the contest.

Grace Nelson finished with a match-high nine kills, while Haley Holz and Nazor each had eight. The Violets hit .286, while the Ospreys posted a .039 percentage.

"Today we did a good job at taking care of the ball on our side of the net," said Head Coach Andrew Brown. "We had an opportunity to rotate players in and everyone took advantage of it, which shows our depth and how strong our team is. Additionally, our middle attackers did a great job."

Launsbach led the way with 21 assists, while Dominique Dust contributed 13. Double-digit digs (try saying that five times fast) were registered by Lindsay Hirano (18) and Launsbach (11).

"We're looking forward to two more tough matches on the road tomorrow," Brown added.

The Violets are indeed right back on the court tomorrow when they face Christopher Newport University at 11:00am and host Salisbury University at 1:30pm in Salisbury, MD.
