The New York University women's volleyball team,
ranked #10 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), swept both of its matches on Saturday, October 28, in Salisbury, MD.
The Violets began the day by sweeping host Salisbury University (25-20, 25-16, 25-18) and ended it by blanking Christopher Newport University (25-15, 25-18, 25-21).
After sweeping host Salisbury in the opener, NYU was again dominant in the second match, posting an outstanding .536 hitting percentage in the first set and ending the three-set match with a .351 mark compared to the Christopher Newport's .128.
Haley Holz finished with 14 kills and hit .464, committing only one error in her 28 attacks.
Camille Nazor (.412) and
Grace Nelson (.353) each contributed an efficient seven kills.
Dominique Drust and
Ava Launsbach each each 11 assists, with Lindsay Hirano adding nine. Both Hirano (17) and Drust (10) had double-digit digs.
"Today, our hitters dialed in their offense and picked apart our opponents' defense and block," said Head Coach
Andrew Brown. "Our team overall served tough and defended the net extremely well."
The Violets are back on the court Friday night, November 3, at 7:00pm when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
