A trio of Violets were scheduled to continue competition at the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Cup, which is being held on Thursday-Saturday, October 12-14, in Rome, GA.
Jimena Menendez,
Dakota Fordham and
Isabella Hartman are all representing NYU after winning titles at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships in September,
Menendez lost her second-round singles match on Friday, falling in three sets to Cassidy Binder of Pacific University (6-3, 4-6, 6-1) in the afternoon. She had also dropped a three-setter in her opening match on Thursday.
"It was tough to lose another three-setter," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "Jimena played well at times, but not to her usual level. The ITA Cup is unforgiving, as everyone has won their way here and if you aren't playing as well as you want, it's hard to get through."
Then, in the evening, Fordham and Hartman were set to face the Binder sisters (Cassidy and Sydnie) in a second-round match, but it was canceled due to rain.
All three NYU players are scheduled to play their final matches on Saturday.
