The New York University women's fencing team returned to action for the first time since December 4 as they began competition at the Pennsylvania Invitational on Saturday.
Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA, the Violets fenced off against five teams and recorded two victories.
NYU out-dueled two NCAA Division I squads: University of North Carolina (14-13) and Wagner College (20-7), but fell to two others: Duke University (18-9) and host UPenn (22-5).
The Violets were defeated by Division III Johns Hopkins University 16-11.
"Our women fought hard against some tough opponents and had some individual successes that we can definitely build upon as we get into the heat of the season," said Head Coach
Ben Bratton.
