On Saturday, the New York University
fifth-ranked women's swimming and diving team washed off yesterday's defeats with a 122-120 victory against Division II West Chester University of Pennsylvania in West Chester, PA.
The divers delivered a smashing performance to contribute to the Violets' win, sweeping both boards.
In the one meter,
Issara Schmidt led the way with a score of 261.08.
Meera Kasturi followed with 238.65 and
Katherine Nardone rounded out the top three with 231.53.
Kasturi (238.43) won the three-meter, backed up by Nardone in second (231.15) and Schmidt in third (230.85).
"It was a long weekend but I think we dove really well both days," head diving coach
Todd Kolean said. "Issara, Katherine and Meera really stepped it up today."
The swimmers added three first-place finishes, with
Caitlin Marshall claiming the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:30.55.
Nicole Ranile won the 500 freestyle, clocking 5:06.44, while Marshall placed second in 5:11.30.
Jessica Flynn and
Emily Ma also pulled out a 1-2 finish in the 100 backstroke, Flynn touching in 58.24 and Ma finishing in 58.46.
"It's awesome that we won today," head swimming coach
Trevor Miele said. "It was a great bounce-back effort."
NYU's women wrapped up their dual meet season with a 4-2 record.
Next up for the Violets is the University Athletic Association Championships on February 8-11 in Atlanta, GA.
