Six Violets earned multiple event victories as New York University's men's and women's swimming teams both defeated NCAA Division I Long Island University at the Palladium Natatorium in Manhattan on Saturday.
Both NYU's men and women are
ranked fifth in Division III as the men defeated the Sharks 180.5-81.5 while the women secured a 189-73 victory.
"We had a great meet today," said head swimming coach
Trevor Miele. "We're coming off of some of our most intense training of the year and I wasn't expecting them to swim so well today. It was a very impressive performance."
NYU honored its graduating swimmers and divers prior to the meet. Seniors
David Basin,
Isabella Brosvik,
Jack Callaghan,
Jessica Flynn,

Emma Monson,
Katherine Nardone,
Salvador Perez,
Thomas Pritchard,

"It's sad that today was the last home meet for our seniors," Miele noted. "They've been the backbone of our program during a really challenging time and I can't thank them enough for their hard work and dedication throughout their careers."
For the men, Pritchard was the star senior with a pair of first-place finishes. He won the 500 freestyle by more than three seconds with a time of 4:41.14. His 16:20.59 time in the 1650 freestyle also bested the field.
"Thomas finished off his last home meet in style with wins in two events and Leo was equally impressive as well," Miele said.
Leo Han also won two events, taking first in both of the backstroke races. He touched in 1:52.28 for a four-second victory in the 200 and completed the 100 in 51.09 seconds.
On the women's side,
Emery Muller stole the show with two individual victories and was part of a foursome that won the 400 free relay. The rookie won the 200 free with a time of 1:54.54 and took first in the 100 free as well (53.31).
"Emery had a fantastic meet today," Miele said. "She swam well in all three of her individual events and dropped an impressive leadoff leg in the 400 free relay."
Georgia Basil dominated the women's 1650 free for the Violets, touching in 17:33.22 to finish more than six seconds faster than teammate
