Sophomore Dakota Fordham and graduate student Ida Krause are alive and well as they have both reached the semifinals in singles and doubles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships.

The dynamic women's tennis duo each won two singles matches and combined to win two doubles matches on Saturday, September 24, the second of three days of the competition, which is being hosted by Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.

Fordham eased by Tatum Blalock of Vassar College 6-1, 6-1, then defeated NYU teammate Aditi Narayan 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the semis. Narayan beat Erin McCusker of Vassar 6-4, 6-3 before falling to Fordham.

Krause advanced by edging Sofiya Lebedeva of Drew University 6-3, 7-6(7) and also defeating a teammate, Karina Jensrud 6-3, 6-4. Jensrud had advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lorna Flores of RPI.

"It's been a strong showing for our women. Most importantly, it's been good results from the entire lineup," offered Head Coach Horace Choy. "Placing five singles players in the quarterfinals highlights the depth of this team. The downside is that we had two sets of teammates match up in the quarterfinals."

As a tandem, Fordham and Krause overwhelmed Haley Levine and Isabella Goings-Perrot of William Smith College 8-1, then Ella Provost and Grace Truong of Skidmore College 8-2 to land in Sunday's semifinals. 

"It's been a lot of tennis," Choy added, "but I think Ida and Dakota will be ready for tomorrow."

The doubles semifinals, then finals, are set to begin at 9:00am on Sunday. The singles semifinals are scheduled to start at 2:00pm followed by the championship match at 4:30pm.
