Nine Violets Score in Shutout of Centenary

Kalargiros netted a hat trick for her first three collegiate goals

Rena Kalargiros recorded a hat trick for her first three collegiate goals to lead New York University's women's soccer team in a 12-0 victory over Centenary University (NJ) in Hackettstown, NJ, on Saturday afternoon.

Nine Violets found the back of the net in the lopsided win with Isa Badillo delivering a brace for the first two goals of her career as well.

Dominique Bevacqua opened the scoring just two minutes in, finishing an assist from Hunter Hoelscher for her second goal of the year.

Tate Jordan doubled the lead in the fourth minute, with Gabriella Funk providing the assist, before Funk scored herself just three minutes later.

Hoelscher made it 4-0 with an unassisted tally in the 16th, then defender Jayla Lee scored her first collegiate goal in the 25th minute as NYU continued to pull away.

Badillo delivered her first goal of the day 10 minutes before intermission while Kalargiros got on the board via a Jessica Tonthat assist with just 45 seconds to play in the first half.

Maddy Xiong found the back of the net 26 seconds into the second half, for the first goal of her young career, before setting up Nikki Lee to score three minutes later.

Kalargiros and Badillo traded unassisted goals late in the game to conclude the scoring as NYU led 41-1 in shot attempts.

Tyler Hawkins and Riley Felsher split the match in net for the Violets with Hawkins saving the Cyclones' lone shot of the day.

NYU remains undefeated on the season with the win, improving to 3-0-4. The squad returns home for its next outing, welcoming Sarah Lawrence College to Gaelic Park on Monday, September 26, for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
