New York University's women's soccer team concluded the Engineering Cup with a scoreless draw against host Stevens on Sunday afternoon in Hoboken, NJ.
It was the third straight tie for the 1-0-3 Violets, who finished even with #2 TCNJ 4-4 on Friday night to open the Cup.
Junior
Kelli Keady, who had a pair of goals against TCNJ, had the first chance of the day with a shot on target six minutes in that was saved by the Ducks' keeper Dana Perry.
The next scoring opportunity came in the 38th minute, but
Jessica Tonthat's shot was also stopped by Perry. NYU outshot Stevens 5-0 across the opening 45 minutes.
Stevens' lone shot on goal came just 45 seconds into the second half, but Violet keeper
Tyler Hawkins was there for the save. NYU had a flurry of chances three minutes later, with three shots on goal in a 15-second span, but none found the back of the net.
For the game, the Violets led 9-3 in shots but trailed 4-2 in corners.
Dominique Bevacqua had a game-high three shot attempts while Hawkins played the entire 90 minutes in goal.
Next up is the Violets' first game of the season at their usual home field of Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY, on Saturday, September 17. NYU welcomes Drew University for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
