Robinson Announces Promotions and Department Reorganization

New York University Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Athletics Stuart Robinson has announced a reorganization of his senior leadership team, including new hires and internal promotions. The reorganization also involves updated sport administration duties and new positions within the department.

"With the advent of a global pandemic over two years ago, we as a department have had an opportunity to assess our strengths and necessary areas for growth," Robinson said. "After a careful review, we have made changes to our staff to better meet the needs of both our students and staff members.

"We have provided opportunities for staff to develop professionally while also making decisions that allow us to strengthen our commitment to the student experience. I am excited that we have a diverse group of professionals who are equipped to help our students and staff navigate the landscape of University Athletics and Recreation in a post-pandemic world."

Matt Huck has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations & Compliance and Young Kim has been hired as the new Associate Athletic Director for Financial Operations, beginning at the end of October. This divides the responsibilities of internal affairs and financial operations that were previously held under one position.

Also receiving a promotion is Roy Flores to Assistant Athletic Director & Head Athletic Trainer after serving on NYU's sports medicine staff for the past seven years.

Huck has worked in the department since 2006, now serving as the human resources officer, coordinating the onboarding of new staff and developing and maintaining the policies and procedures manual while overseeing University and NCAA compliance. He also takes on sport administrator duties for men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's fencing and men's and women's golf.

Kim comes to the Department of Athletics from NYU's Office of Budget and Financial Planning where he served in multiple capacities since 2014. As Associate Athletic Director for Financial Operations, his responsibilities include overseeing the business office and supervising the department's budget.

Senior Associate Athletic Director Janice Quinn has also taken on new responsibilities, including the oversight of sports medicine, strength and conditioning and athletic communications while maintaining sport administrator duties for women's basketball, women's soccer, women's volleyball and softball.

Associate Athletic Director Dominick Ciaccia is taking over scheduling and contracts for the department, in addition to becoming sport administrator for men's and women's track and field and cross country, baseball and wrestling.

As part of the reorganization, building managers of NYU's athletic facilities are now assistant athletic directors. This includes Steve Herishen, Assistant Athletic Director - Palladium Athletic Facility and Lauren Lopresti, Assistant Athletic Director - 404 Fitness. However, upon the opening of NYU's 181 Mercer facility in January 2023, Lopresti will assume managerial duties at the new facility.

Ronald Morales has also been hired as Assistant Athletic Director - 404 Fitness and will remain in that role when Lopresti moves to 181 Mercer.

Two new positions have also been created as Craven Wright and Nicholas Ducheine joined NYU as Events & Marketing Managers. The pair are responsible for overseeing varsity athletic events, developing and implementing marketing strategies and pursuing sponsorship opportunities for the department.

NYU Athletics also remains committed to its partnership with the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative, welcoming three fellows from the program for the 2022-23 academic year: Lynsey Duverglas, Chase Nixon and Justice Daymon.

Duverglas is serving as the Special Assistant to the Senior Staff while Nixon and Daymon are Facility Supervisors at 404 Fitness.

"Although change is never easy, I know that we will be moving forward with an eye toward a future that delivers a first-class experience for all who participate in our programs," Robinson added.
