Herrmann Hired to Lead Club Women's Lacrosse

Lily Herrmann has been hired as the next Head Coach of New York University's Club Women's Lacrosse team. She wil also serve as a guidance and resource for the student-leadership of the competing club. 

"I am thrilled to be the new head coach for NYU's club women's lacrosse team!", Herrmann said. "My passion and experience for coaching lacrosse runs deep and I am so excited to work with skilled young women who love playing this incredible sport as much as I do. I cannot wait to start building the program after a long COVID era of canceled play."

Herrmann comes to NYU with vast experience within the sport of Lacrosse, including four years as a Division III Varsity Student-Athlete for the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA. At Pitzer, Hermann was team captain for two years, on the SCIAC All-Academic Team for three years, and was Second Team All SCIAC in 2019. 

Herrmann has had various experience recruiting and coaching in Lacrosse, specifically in her current role as Lacrosse Program Director at Harlem Lacrosse in Manhattan, NY. 

"We are thrilled about having Lily take the lead in providing a positive experience and valuable mentorship for our students in the Women's Lacrosse Club", said, Assistant Athletic Director for Intramurals, Clubs, and Recreation, Devin Roban. "Her vision for the program has our department very excited for what's to come." 

Herrmann shared those expectations for the program saying, "I envision the women's NYU women's club lacrosse team as a sustainable and consistent program run by passionate players that are committed to building a legacy and a strong community all while enjoying a competitive environment where each athlete can get better every day." 

She contiued the message to the current and future players,"I cannot wait to see you all at our first practice! We are going to have a blast. And to anyone thinking about playing: Come and join us! I can guarantee that being a part of this team will be a highlight of your experience at NYU." 

Herrmann will begin in the role for the Spring 2022 season.
