Maggie Swan (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) of the New York University softball team and
Grant Berman (Encino, CA/Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks)) of the baseball team were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week on Monday, March 16.
Swan pitched a seven-inning shutout in the Violets' 4-0 win over Rutgers-Newark on Tuesday. She allowed only three hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter in stopping NYU's three-game losing streak.
Swan completed the team's (3-5) abbreviated season with a 3-3 record and a 2.22 ERA.
Berman went 2-for-3 with four RBIs as the designated hitter in the Violets' 11-0 victory over John Jay College last Monday. Half of Berman's RBI's came courtesy of his two-run home run in the second inning.
NYU baseball has completed its shortened season with a 4-1 record. Berman winds up as the team leader in batting average (.444), hits (8), runs (9), total bases (13), and on-base percentage (.565).
This is the final UAA Athlete of the Week selections for the 2019-20 academic year.
