NYU Scores 16 Runs in Dominant Performance

The New York University Violets (12-20, 5-15) picked up its third-straight non-conference win against the Mount Saint Mary College Knights (13-23, 7-11) by a score of 16-4 on Wednesday, April 29, in Newburgh, New York.

Coming off a tough stretch of UAA play, the Violets attempted to get back in the winning column.

CJ Franchini hit his fifth homer of the season to open NYU's scoring in the bottom of the first. Aidan Howladar's two-run single later in the inning gave NYU an early 3-0 lead.

The Knights cut the Violets' lead to just one in the bottom of the third, the smallest deficit they'd have for the remainder of the game.

The UAA's second leading home run hitter, Kosta Mocklis, hit his eighth homer of the year in the fourth; a three-run shot to extend NYU's lead to four. Max Oliveira followed two batters later with the second home run of the inning and the Violets finished the inning holding a 10-2 lead.

They scored a combined four runs in the sixth and seventh to put the game completely out of reach.

NYU's defense had a good day along with the offense, having one of their most dominant performances of the season, holding Mount Saint Mary to just one hit from the fourth inning through the seventh.

Both teams scored its last two runs in the eighth as NYU picked up its seventh non-conference win of the season.

Notable Stats:
  • NYU scored double digits for its third straight game
  • Mocklis had his second multi-homer game of the year (first one was 3/14/26 against Russel Sage College)
  • Ansel Balmer pitched a career high five innings & was one strikeout short of matching his career high of seven
