The New York University men's cross country team finished in first place at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational, which was hosted by Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Saturday, September 7.
The Violets posted four top-10 finishes and accumulated 39 points. They easily out-distanced second-place Vassar (60 points) in the six-team race.
Jack Lillian (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) was NYU's top finisher, taking fourth place in a time of 19:40.4 over the 6K course. He was closely followed by
Jonathan Sussman (Ellicott City, MD/Wilde Lake) (6th place, 19:56.4),
Liam de Beaufort (Washington, D.C./St. John's) (8th place, 20:03.1) and
Josh Holtzman (Glen Allen, VA/Glen Allen) (9th place, 20:07.2).
NYU's final scorer was
Malcolm Silver-Van Meter (Thetford, VT/Thetford Academy), who took 12th place in a time of 20:21.7.
Overall, 90 runners competed in the race.
"The men had a great day today," said Head Coach
Erison Hurtault. "They have been working hard and it is showing. It's still early in the season, but we like what we are seeing."
The Violets return to action on Saturday, September 28, when they compete in the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, MA.
