The New York University baseball team had its four-game winning streak snapped after dropping a 12-3 decision to New Jersey City University on Friday, May 3, in Jersey City, NJ.
The Violets (25-12) fell behind 5-0 after two innings, but scored three runs in the top of the third to make things close.
Jack Elias hit a run-scoring single and
Chris Cassandra added a two-run single to account for the runs.
However, the Gothic Knights (16-22) held NYU scoreless the rest of the way. They added a run in the bottom of the fifth and then put the game away with a six-run eighth.
Ford Ladd (8-3) started and took the loss for the Violets, only pitching 1.1 innings.
Zach Cohen followed with 2.2 innings of hitless relief.
Jack Walter and
Colman Hendershot each had two hits for NYU.
The Violets are back in action on Saturday when they host St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn at Breslin Field in Lyndhurst, NJ. First pitch is set for 2:30pm.
