Eric Sollee Invitational Results
The New York University women's fencing team competed in the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in Cambridge, MA, on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3.
The Violets went 4-1 on the day, defeating Brown University (15-12), MIT (19-8), Haverford College (21-6), and Brandeis University (15-12), before falling only to Boston College (20-7).
The team produced outstanding performances in all three weapons.
The foil squad was led by
Tiffany Luong, who recorded a team-high 13 victories and suffered only one loss.
The sabre team's efforts were spearheaded by
Elizabeth Sweetra, who compiled 10 victories against only three losses.
In epee,
Ally Hu went 7-8 and
Hannah Bennett finished 6-6.
"We started off hot today and never went cold, contributing to our best day of the year," said Head Coach
Steve Mormando. "Probably one of our best results in year's in women's foil."
The Violets return to the strip when they travel uptown to face Columbia University on Wednesday, February 13, at 5:00pm.
