The New York University's women's fencing team won five of its six matches at the Fairleigh Dickinson University Invitational in Teaneck, NJ, on Sunday, February 24.
The Violets defeated LIU-Post (22-5), Drew University (22-5), New Jersey Institute of Technology (16-11), Wagner College (21-6), and host FDU (22-5) before falling in their final match of the day to Stevens Institute of Technology (17-10).
Tiffany Luong produced a perfect 18-0 foil record on Sunday, winning each of her three bouts against all six teams.
Anastasiya Muravyeva was just a tad behind her foil teammate, finishing the day with an impressive 17-1 record.
In sabre,
Audrey Edgington compiled a superb 12-2 record, while
Allison Dunlap also finished the competition with 12 wins (12-5).
NYU's epee contingent was led by both
Rachel Wu (7-3) and
Gabie Yacobi (8-7).
"I'm ecstatic about the team's performance today," said Head Coach
Steve Mormando. "Combined with our last meet, we finished the season 7-2. I'm definitely happy with the results."
The Violets are now done with their dual-match season, finishing with a 14-17 record.
The squad returns to action on Saturday, March 2, to compete in the NIWFA Championships hosted by Drew University in Madison, NJ.
