The New York University women's basketball team was defeated 71-58 by host Washington University in St. Louis in University Athletic Association (UAA) action on Friday, February 15, in St. Louis, MO.

NYU (13-9, 5-7 UAA) rallied from a double-digit, first-half deficit to take a 47-45 lead after three quarters, but couldn't hold on as WashU (17-6, 11-1 UAA) dominated the fourth quarter to earn the 13-point win and remain in first place in the UAA standings.

WashU, which entered the game ranked 24th in the Divison III Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) poll, scored the first six points of the final quarter and outscored the Violets 26-11 in the frame.

Madieline Homoly scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while also grabbing a team-high eight rebounds to lead the Bears. The senior was joined in double figures by freshman Samantha Weaver, who scored 12 points, including 11 after halftime.

NYU was led by Janean Cuffee, who scored 19 points while playing all 40 minutes. Shaye McGoey and Lauren Koyama came off the bench to each score 11 for the visitors. McGoey also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds before fouling out late in the contest.

The Violets return to action when they head to Chicago on Sunday, February 17, for their final road game of the regular season against #20 University of Chicago. Tip-off is slated for 2pm (CT) at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center.
