Women's Fencing Competes at Sacred Heart Tradition Tournament

Violets Finish 3-3

On Sunday, December 8, the New York University women's fencing team competed in the Tradition Tournament, hosted by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.  

The Violets finished 3-3 with wins against Vassar College (17-10), Sacred Heart (18-9) and Brown University (16-11). Their losses came against Penn State University (24-3), Princeton University (6-21) and Temple University (5-22).

Anna Lanzman (Brooklyn, NY/Stuyvesant) and Chiara Codazzi (Rome, Italy/St. Stephens) both went 11-6 in epee and foil, respectively.

Allison Dunlap (Redondo Beach, CA/Vistamar) led the way in sabre going 10-7. 

"The women's team had outstanding results in each weapon," said Head Coach Steve Mormando. "Allison, Anna and Chiara all did terrific jobs. All-in-all the women's team did a wonderful job!"

Several members of the team are expected to compete at the North American Circuit in Charlotte, NC, from Friday, January 3, through Monday, January 6.
