Philadelphia Invitational Results
The New York University women's fencing team won two of its five matches on the first day of competition at the Philadelphia Invitational, which is being hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday and Sunday, January 19-20, in Philadelphia, PA.
The Violets defeated Haverford College (23-4) and Brown University (20-7), but fell to Yale University (19-8), the University of North Carolina (21-6) and host UPenn (17-10).
There were many highlight performances throughout the day for the Violets, now 3-9 in dual meets this season.
Anastasiya Muravyeva led the foil team with a 10-5 record on the day.
Sarah Prilutsky chipped in with seven victories (7-4).
A pair of fencers produced double-digit wins for the sabre team.
Audrey Edgington's 11 victories led all NYU fencers on Saturday (11-4), while
Chloe Chen put together an impressive 10-5 mark.
Ally Hu posted the most wins (5) for the epee team.
The Violets get right back into action on Sunday for the second day of the invitational. They will face six opponents beginning with Ohio State University at 8:30am.
