The New York University men's tennis team fell short of victory today after a 7-2 defeat by University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, April 21, in Cleveland, OH.
The day isn't lost for the Violets (4-7), however, as they will play again later today versus Ohio Wesleyan University. The Spartans (14-9) will also play OWU later today.
While the men didn't get a win in doubles, they did secure two in the singles round from a couple of reliable players.
Umberto Setter (#1) took both sets from his opponent after a back-and-forth match that saw him come out on top 6-4, 7-5. The Violets' other victory came from
Vishal Walia (#3) who came back after a first-set loss by winning the next two in strong fashion (3-6, 6-2, 10-5).
"Happy for the wins from Umberto and Vishal," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "They have been working hard and playing well and this result shows that."
The Violets will only have a couple of hours rest before they return to the courts for their 7:00 pm match against Ohio Wesleyan, which will also take place in Cleveland, OH.
