The New York University women's tennis team defeated host Haverford College 8-1 on Saturday, March 3, in Haverford, PA.
NYU (3-0) swept all six singles matches and also won two of three in singles over the Fords, who were playing their season opener.
At doubles, the second pairing of
Coco Kulle and
Judy Kam won 8-2, while the third pairing of
Rupa Ganesh and
Kate Shaffer also earned an 8-2 victory.
In singles, Kulle (6-3, 6-2),
Flyora Shiyanova (6-1, 6-4), Kam (3-6, 6-3, 6-3), Ganesh (6-4, 6-3), Shaffer (3-6. 6-1,10-5), and
Anandini Chawla (6-4, 6-2) were all winners.
"It was good to be able to work Kate and Anandini into the lineup and have them both win," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "I think all the women are competing well and I
expect a similar effort tomorrow."
The Violets return to action on Sunday when they travel to Hamilton, NY, to take on NCAA Division I Colgate University at 10am.
