Women's Fencing Competes at Tradition Tournament

Violets Finish 1-5

On Sunday, December 2, the New York University women's fencing team competed in the Tradition Tournament, hosted by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.  

The Violets finished 1-5 with their lone win coming against Vassar College (14-13). They were defeated by Princeton University (19-8), Harvard University (25-2), Penn State University (23-4), Sacred Heart (20-7), and Temple University (23-4). 

Freshman Sarah Prilutsky had an outstanding day for the Violets. She had the most wins of anyone on the team, finishing 10-7 in foil. 

In sabre, Audrey Edgington led the way with a record of 6-12.

"The team really stepped up today." said Head Coach Steve Mormando. "They fought hard in spite of many injuries."


Several members of the team are expected to compete at the North American Cup in Cincinnati, OH, from Friday, December 14, through Monday, December 17.
