The New York University women's volleyball team took to the road on Tuesday, October 2, and faced Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, NY. In their first contest since competing at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin over the weekend, the Violets defeated the host Rams in three sets (25-8, 25-19, 25-17).
NYU (13-6) never trailed throughout the evening.
The Violets scored the first three points of the first set and led the rest of the way.
The Rams (5-15) made it closer in the second set, but were still never able to take a lead.
The final set was much of the same as the Violets again scored the first three points en route to the clinching win.
"We had the opportunity to get everyone into the match, which is nice," said Head Coach
Andrew Brown. "The players did a good job executing the game plan."
Gretchen Kincade led the way with seven kills while hitting .462.
Stella Alverson's 16 assists were a team-high, as was
Kelsey Kraetz's four blocks.
"Kelsey did a great job at slowing their attackers," Brown explained. "We wanted to establish physical play at the net, and we were able to do just that."
The Violets return to action this Saturday, October 6, when they play in a tri-meet at Stockton College in Pomona, NJ. NYU will face Widener University at 3:00pm and then host Stockton at 5:00pm.
