The New York University men's basketball team suffered a 73-68 setback to University Athletic Association (UAA) foe Emory University on Friday, January 19, at the Sportsplex in Manhattan.
NYU dropped to 8-6 on the season and 1-3 in UAA play, while the 17th-ranked Eagles improved their overall record to 13-2 and remain undefeated through four UAA contests.
The Violets led only once in the game, 15-13, on a jumper by
Douglas Gertner with 11:18 left in the first half.
Emory went on to lead 35-28 at halftime, and took a game-high 12-point lead, 71-59, with just over four minutes to play.
However, the Violets scored the next nine points and pulled within three on
Dom Cristiano's layup with 54 seconds remaining.
The Eagles then committed a 30-second violation on their next possession, but the Violets also could not score on their's.
Gebereal Baitey then made two free throws with 10 seconds left for the final margin.

NYU returns continues its UAA homestand on Sunday, January 21, when it hosts 25th-ranked University of Rochester (12-3, 3-1) at 1pm at the Sportsplex.
