Complete Results

The New York University men's tennis team completed its first day of play at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Friday, April 21, at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.

The sixth-seeded Violets (9-3) were defeated by #3 University of Chicago 8-1.

Senior Umberto Setter picked up NYU's only win of the day. The Bedano, Switzerland, native defeated Nicolas Chua 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 10-3, in #1 singles.

"We played OK, but we were too inconsistent and did not play well enough to beat a top team like Chicago," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore Benedict Teoh and freshman Michael Li dropped a close 8-5 match to Max Hawkins and Tyler Raclin in #2 doubles.

"Hopefully we can build on the positives for tomorrow's match," added Choy.

The Violets continue tournament play tomorrow against #7 Brandeis University. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm.
