Women's Tennis Set to Compete at UAA's

Violets Begin Play on Thursday in Florida

Bracket | Tournament Page

The New York University women's tennis team is set to compete at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Thursday-Saturday, April 20-22, at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.

The Violets (7-3) will look to improve on their seventh-place finish from last season's tournament.

NYU has received strong contributions from multiple returnees. Senior captain Laila El Dessouki is currently 17-12, including 10-2 in singles play, and a trio of sophomores - Alice McGinty, Vanessa Scott, and Flyora Shiyanova - have all earned at least 13 wins (singles and doubles play) this season.

The Violets have also gotten a major boost from their freshman class, as Rupa Ganesh (10-4), Judy Kam (8-6) and Nikki Ong (8-3) have all won at least eight singles matches. Additionally, Ganesh and Kam have become a strong pair in #3 doubles, and went 8-2 in duals.

NYU begins UAA play against second-seeded University of Chicago on Thursday at 9:00 am.
