The New York University men's tennis team defeated the University of Rochester 8-1 on Sunday, March 26, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
In doubles play, the Violets (5-2) swept the Yellowjackets behind wins from senior
Umberto Setter and junior
Samuel Khoshbin (#1 doubles); sophomore
Benedict Teoh and freshman
Michael Li (#2 doubles); and senior
Matt DeMichiel and freshman
Zeb Zheng (#3 doubles).
In singles play, NYU earned a win from Setter (6-4, 6-3) in #1 singles, and from DeMichiel (6-2, 6-1), Li (6-1, 6-1), and freshmen
Vishal Walia (7-5, 6-2) and
Xavier Pacthod (6-4, 6-1), respectively, in #3-6 singles.
"It was a strong performance throughout the lineup against a UAA (University Athletic Association) opponent," said NYU Head Coach
Horace Choy. "We dominated from start to finish."
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:
- Before the match, DeMichiel and
Sammy Aronson were honored for Senior Day.
"We got a strong performance from Matt on Senior Day," added Choy.
The Violets are back in action against the College of New Jersey on Wednesday, March 29, in Ewing, NJ.
The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
