The New York University softball team dropped a 6-4 decision to Stockton University in its second game of the day on Monday, March 13, at the Sleepy Hollow Athletic Complex in Leesburg, FL.
The Violets (2-2) had defeated Hamilton College 7-3 in their first game of the day.
NYU jumped on the Ospreys (2-2) with runs in each of the first two innings.
Diana King led off the bottom of the first with a triple and scored on
Dakota Damiani's groundout. The Violets' second run scored on a sacrifice fly by
Jacqueline Finn.
Stockton tied the score with two runs in the top of the third, but King untied in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run, her second of the day.
However, the Ospreys scored four times in the top of the fifth, aided by two Violet errors, and NYU was unable to plate any runners the rest of the way.
"It was a tough loss because we had two two-run leads and couldn't hang on," said Head Coach
Now-Allah James. "But, we saw a lot of positive things in our two games today and will continue to work on getting better every day."
