Women's Tennis Drops Close Match to Brandeis

Several Violets Perform Well on Sunday

Results

The New York University women's tennis team was defeated by #21 (NCAA.com) Brandeis University on Sunday, March 12, in Waltham, MA.

"It was a tough loss," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "We played the #21 team in the country close and had some chances, but they capitalized on one or two points and that was the difference."

In doubles play, the Violets (3-2) earned a victory from sophomores Vanessa Scott and Alice McGinty at #2.

In singles play, NYU received wins from Scott (#2), senior Laila El Dessouki (#4) and freshman Nikki Ong (#5), but fell just short against a strong Judges squad.

"The girls fought hard and competed to the end," added Choy.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

- Freshmen Rupa Ganesh and Judy Kam played a close match against Michele Lehat and Keren Khromchenko in #3 doubles, but ultimately fell 9-8 (4).

The Violets return to the court against California State University, Northridge, on Friday, March 24, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
