The New York University men's tennis team defeated Colby College 5-4 on Sunday, Match 12, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
The Violets (3-1) began the afternoon by going 2-1 in doubles play. Sophomore
Benedict Teoh and freshman
Michael Li defeated Shaw Speer and Cam Hillier 8-6 in #2 doubles, and senior
Matt DeMichiel and freshman
Xavier Pacthod beat Scott Altmeyer and Zale Shah 8-6 in #3 doubles.
In singles play, NYU earned wins in #3-5 singles from Li, DeMichiel and freshman
Vishal Walia, respectively, to secure the close victory.
"We were able to guard against a letdown from the win over Brandeis (6-3) on Friday," said NYU Head Coach
Horace Choy. "Colby is a good team, and this is a solid win."
The Violets return to the court on Thursday, March 23, against Kalamazoo College at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.
