The New York University men's basketball team fell 82-75 to Wells College on Tuesday, January 2, at the Sportsplex in Manhattan.
NYU (5-5) led 41-34 at halftime, but Wells (5-3) scored 10-straight points early in the second half to take a one-point lead. The teams exchanged the lead several times in the second half before the Express went ahead for good with 5:06 remaining.
The NYU defense struggled to find an answer for Rich Ross, who scored a game-high 33 points. The guard shot 8-14 from beyond the arc and nailed a huge three-pointer with 2:34 remaining to increase the visitors' lead to a game-high nine points, 76-67.
Cameron Moore scored 23 points for the Violets to establish a career high for the third-straight game. The rookie also had five assists in 34 minutes of action.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Doug Gertner also scored a career high for the Violets, tallying 11 points.

Jimmy Martinelli recorded his second-straight double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Joe Timmes (14 points, game-high 14 rebounds) also had a double-double for NYU.

Ross Udine dished out a game-high eight assists.
The Violets return to action on Saturday, January 7, when they travel to Waltham, MA, to open up University Athletic Association (UAA) play against Brandeis University. Tip-off against the Judges is scheduled for 3:00pm.
