The New York University women's soccer team came from behind twice to defeat Ramapo College, 3-2, on Wednesday, September 21, at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

NYU, ranked #18 in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, improved to 5-1-1 on the season with the win, while the Roadrunners dropped to 1-4-1.

Ramapo opened up the scoring in the fouth minute when Lillian Vizcaino capitalized on an NYU turnover and beat Violets' goalkeeper Cassie Steinberg from the top of the box. The Roadrunner lead would only last 14 minutes as Teressa Fazio's team-leading fourth goal of the season tied the game for NYU. Ramapo would score once more just before halftime to go ahead 2-1.

The Violets came out in the second half and wasted no time as Lexi Clarke knotted the game at 2-2 just 39 seconds into the second half. A shot from Alex Benedict was stopped by the Roadrunners' goalkeeper, but Clarke was able to corral the rebound and shoot it into the back of the net. NYU would take a 3-2 lead on a goal from Olivia Braender-Carr in the 62nd minute. Braender-Carr's goal was assisted by Clarke and Lena Diaz. Clarke started the play with a corner kick which Diaz recieved cleanly and fed Braender-Carr.

"We showed a lot of character to come back twice," said NYU Head Coach Michele Canning. "It's good to get the win."

Inside the Box Score:

- NYU outshot Ramapo 17-7 including 9-6 in shots on goal.

- Steinberg made four saves to earn her fifth victory of the season in goal.

- Clarke's three-point game was her second of the season. 

The Violets will be back in action Saturday when they travel to DeSales University for a 12pm kickoff in Center Valley, PA.
