The New York University women's soccer team defeated DeSales University by a score of 4-2 on Saturday, September 24, at DUC Soccer Field in Center Valley, PA.
Despite falling behind after a DeSales goal at 28:27, the Violets were ahead by halftime after two goals in two minutes from
Alex Benedict and
Olivia Braender-Carr.
"Our attack created quality dangerous chances," said Head Coach
Michele Canning. "It was exciting to see."
NYU never looked back as Benedict doubled both her tally and the Violet advantage three minutes into the second half.
The teams traded goals later in the second half, with DeSales converting a penalty kick at 65:35 to make it a one-goal game before
Isabelle Turner scored her first career collegiate goal off of a corner kick at 77:09 to cap the scoring.
"Our performance today was a solid team effort," continued Canning. "Everyone competed hard and contributed to the win."
