The New York University women's tennis team has concluded its 2015-16 season, placing seventh at the 2016 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, which took place on Friday-Sunday, April 22-24, at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.

On Sunday, the Violets (9-4), ranked #29 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), defeated the University of Rochester (6-11) by a score of 8-1, winning two out of three doubles matches and sweeping all six singles contests.

"We had a good season with some good performances," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "It was nice to close the season with a victory."

Seniors Carmen Lai and Madeline King closed out their NYU careers as double winners on Sunday. Lai posted a routine 6-3, 6-1 victory at #1 singles and paired with Flyora Shiyanova at #1 doubles for an 8-2 win. King put on a clinic in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #5 singles and teamed up with Laila El Dessouki to win 8-2 at #3 doubles.

"I'm especially happy that our seniors, Madeline and Carmen, were able to finish their careers with wins," continued Choy. "I will miss them as well as fellow senior Jazmin Colling, and I wish them all the best."
