The New York University men's tennis team was defeated by University Athletic Association (UAA) foe University of Rochester by a score of 6-3 on Saturday, April 16, in Rochester, NY.
"It was a tough loss. We were hoping for a better outcome, but Rochester played better," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "It was their Senior Day and they raised their level. Except for a few matches, we weren't able to match it."
Benedict Teoh and Matt DeMichel recorded all three Violet victories against the Yellowjackets. At #3 singles, Teoh won a comeback 3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-6 decision, while DeMichiel cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win at the #5 position. The duo joined forces to record an 8-3 victory at #3 doubles.
"Matt and Ben were our best performers in this match," continued Choy. "We have one more match before the UAA Championship and we need to be better from start to finish."
NYU returns to action in their regular-season finale against Baruch College, which will take place in Flushing, NY, on Tuesday, April 19.
