The New York University women's tennis team, ranked #29 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), defeated University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent University of Rochester on Saturday, April 16, in Rochester, NY.
In their regular-season finale, the Violets (8-2) defeated the Yellowjackets (6-8) by a score of 7-2, winning all three doubles matches and four out of six singles contests.
"This was our last match before the UAA Championship and it was a good win," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "We are looking to carry our play into the championship, where the competition will be tougher."

Flyora Shiyanova and
Vanessa Scott swept the first three singles matches without dropping a set. This spring, the trio has posted a combined 27-1 singles record.
"Carmen, Flyora and Vanessa have had outstanding seasons and continued their good play today," continued Choy.
Laila El Dessouki picked up another singles point for NYU, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 thumping at the #5 position.
At #1 doubles, Lai and Shiyanova teamed up to win 8-4. Scott and
Alice McGinty recorded an 8-3 victory at the #2 spot, while El Dessouki and
Madeline King collected an 8-6 triumph at #3.
The Violets return to the court for the UAA Championship, which will take place in Altamonte Springs, FL, from Friday-Sunday, April 22-24.
