The New York University women's tennis team defeated The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, April 13, in Ewing, NJ.
The Violets, ranked #30 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), recorded a 7-2 victory over #29 TCNJ.
"Strong performance for the women against a team ranked ahead of them," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "It was a dominant win from singles to doubles today."
The freshmen duo of
Vanessa Scott and
Alice McGinty picked up a tight 9-7 victory at #2 doubles.
Laila El Dessouki and
Madeline King also recorded an 8-3 win at #3 doubles.
Scott (6-4, 4-6, 10-7), McGinty (6-4, 6-4) and El Dessouki (6-3, 6-2) returned to the court and eached register her second win of the day over respective TCNJ opponents.
"The top three continued their strong play with wins during singles match-ups," Choy stated. "Laila and Alice really played a couple of commanding games out there. Our team, in general, showed great play."
NYU will be back in action when the Violets travel to Western New York and face University Athletic Association (UAA) rival University of Rochester on Saturday, April 16.
