Violets to Face Rochester Tomorrow

The New York University women's tennis team lost to Case Western Reserve University 6-3 in the second round of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Friday, April 24. The championship is being held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.

The #8-seeded Violets got off to a good start against the #5-seeded Spartans, with Carmen Lai and Laila El Dessouki winning 9-7 at #1 doubles. However, Case Western Reserve finished doubles play with a 2-1 lead.

In singles play, the Violets won two of six matches, falling in straight sets in the other four.

"Carmen and Laila have been our stalwarts in doubles all season," said NYU Head Coach Horace Choy. "They showed why we rely on them by besting yet another tough opponent."

The Violets return to the court tomorrow to face #7-seeded University of Rochester in the consolation draw. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am.
