The New York University women's tennis team lost 6-3 to The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, April 15, in Ewing, NJ.
In #1 doubles, junior
Carmen Lai and sophomore
Laila El Dessouki encountered perhaps their toughest challenge of the season in TCNJ's Jasmine Muniz-Cadorette and Emma Allen. However, the NYU duo prevailed 9-8 (7-5) to remain undefeated in doubles play.
TCNJ rebounded to win the final two doubles matches and headed into singles play with the lead.
Lai (#1) and El Dessouki (#3) each picked up their singles' wins, defeating Muniz-Cardoette and Allen, respectively. But, the Lions held on to improve to 11-1 on the season. The Violets dropped to 4-3.
"Carmen and Laila have been there for us all season," said NYU Head Coach
Horace Choy. "We just need to get them some help to win matches like these."

Mari Tzakis played well in #2 doubles, dropping a close 9-8 (7-5) match to TCNJ's Brittany Reedman and Maddy Stoner.
The VIolets return to the court on Saturday, April 18, to face Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
